What are Fixed Bridges?

If you have missing teeth, our dental bridge treatment can fill that with artificial teeth. The bridges are made of crowns on either side of the missing tooth; the anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth, and there are false teeth between them. The false tooth is made of several materials, such as alloys, porcelain, gold, or a combination. Your fixed dental bridges get the support of your natural teeth.

Types of Fixed Bridges

  • Traditional Bridges – The most common type of bridge is made of metal, porcelain fused to metal or ceramic. There are two or more pontics to replace the missing teeth.
  • Cantilever Bridges– The bridge is fixed on one abutment, which is generally suggested to someone with a tooth on only one side of the gap.
  • Maryland Bridges – In this, the pontic is made of ceramic or metal-ceramic, and it has wings that spread from the bridge on the abutment teeth.
  • Implant-supported Bridges: It is similar to a traditional bridge, but instead of having your natural teeth as abutments, it is held by implants

What Happens During The Fixed Bridges Treatment?

During your first visit, Dr Pratik Modi will prepare the teeth by taking an impression of your teeth. Then, we will send it to the laboratory, and technicians will make a fixed bridge from alloy, porcelain or gold. You can even combine metal alloy and porcelain for a natural look.

Meanwhile, Dr Pratik Modi will place a temporary bridge till the permanent bridge arrives. When your permanent bridge is ready, we will call you for a visit one or more times to fit your bridges. You may need some adjustments for your bridges, which will increase your number of appointments.
